About 'college in ipoh'|CNY Dinner in Ipoh on January 27, 2012

In               May               2011,               I               spent               three               weeks               in               western               Malaysia.

It               was               a               pleasure               trip               to               see               friends               from               my               college               and               get               to               know               more               about               where               they               are               from.

One               of               the               most               memorable               things               we               did               was               a               tour               of               some               caves               near               Ipoh.

When               we               arrived,               there               were               a               lot               of               people               waiting               for               the               tour               to               start.

The               guide               took               us               through               many               caverns               and               talked               in               Malay               about               the               shapes               of               the               stalactites.

I               was               lucky               to               have               my               friends               there               who               could               translate               for               me.
The               tour               lasted               nearly               four               hours               and               took               us               through               many               narrow               passages               that               sometimes               required               us               to               crawl.

We               had               to               slide               down               when               the               trail               dropped               off,               and               at               one               point               had               to               jump               down               a               hole               to               continue               on.

At               several               points               we               were               crawling               through               a               foot               and               a               half               of               water               with               barely               enough               room               for               our               heads               to               stick               out               of               the               water.
Most               of               the               cave               was               lit               by               floodlights,               but               some               places               were               so               dark               that               we               could               not               see               our               hands               in               front               of               our               faces.

Luckily,               we               had               brought               flashlights               so               we               could               see               the               stalactites               before               we               hit               our               heads               on               them.
Malaysia               was               the               most               gorgeous               place               I               have               ever               visited,               and               the               caves               were               a               unique               experience.
